Largo residents interested in hands-on craftsmanship can now learn the art of blacksmithing and knife making directly from master blacksmith Robert Buck. These classes offer a unique opportunity to forge custom blades, catering to enthusiasts of historical weaponry and practical tools alike.
The classes provide a chance for individuals to create their own knives, daggers, axes, or even swords. Participants can choose to forge items like hunting or chef knives, or more imaginative blades inspired by popular culture themes such as 'Forged in Fire,' 'Game of Thrones,' and 'Dungeons & Dragons.'
Master blacksmith Robert Buck provides first-hand instruction throughout the process. Students will forge their chosen item to be "full tang," meaning the blade and handle form a single piece of metal, ready for handle material to be added later. Buck also covers how to clad blades with various materials, including wood, bone, antler, leather, or paracord.
For those wishing to complete their creations, a follow-up knife handle making class is available. This specialized class costs $399 for one student, with a "BOGO half off" special allowing two students to attend for $598. Payments for all classes are accepted via Zelle, check, money order, or cash.
Residents can contact Rob directly for more information or to sign up for a class. He can be reached by calling or texting (727) 389-8861, or by emailing [email protected].
