We have the best clients...and employees! Morgan Babbitt, who you may have met in the signing room, is not only a great witness, but also a cancer survivor and trainer with Livestrong at the YMCA. We're featuring her and the Livestrong cause in this week's blog. Let's hear from Morgan... When cancer treatment ends, survivors often face a new challenge: rebuilding their strength, confidence, and sense of normalcy. The finish line of treatment is not always the finish line of recovery. That’s where the partnership between the Livestrong Foundation and the YMCA steps in—offering a supportive, research-based fitness program designed specifically for adult cancer survivors. What Is LIVESTRONG at the YMCA? LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a free, 12-week physical activity program created exclusively for adult cancer survivors. Developed with support from the Livestrong Foundation, the program focuses on helping participants regain: Physical strength Cardiovascular endurance Flexibility Balance Emotional well-being Certified YMCA instructors receive specialized training to safely guide survivors through exercises tailored to their individual needs and abilities. This isn’t a typical fitness class. It’s intentional, adaptive, and designed with recovery in mind. Why This Program Matters Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery can leave lasting side effects, including: Fatigue Muscle weakness Reduced mobility Anxiety and depression Social isolation Even after treatment ends, many survivors find that their bodies and minds need continued support. LIVESTRONG at the YMCA addresses these challenges in a welcoming, community-centered environment. Participants not only improve physically but also connect with others who understand their journey. The program helps survivors move from simply recovering to truly thriving. A Supportive Community One of the most powerful aspects of LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is the sense of community it fosters. Participants often describe the program as more than a fitness class—it’s a support network. Survivors: Encourage one another Celebrate milestones together Share experiences openly Form lasting friendships For many, it’s the first step toward reclaiming independence and confidence after treatment. Healing happens in community. Evidence-Based Impact Research consistently shows that physical activity after cancer treatment can: Reduce fatigue Improve overall quality of life Decrease recurrence risk for some cancers Enhance mental health and emotional resilience LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is built on these findings, offering structured programming that is both safe and effective. It bridges the gap between medical treatment and long-term wellness. Who Can Join? The program is open to: Adults 18 and older Individuals currently undergoing or who have completed cancer treatment Survivors with medical clearance to participate Best of all, the program is offered at no cost to participants, removing financial barriers to recovery and support. Final Thoughts The partnership between the Livestrong Foundation and the YMCA represents hope in action. It’s about more than exercise. It’s about healing. It’s about empowerment. It’s about community. For cancer survivors looking to rebuild strength and rediscover confidence, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA offers a powerful reminder: You are stronger than cancer.

The Learning Experience Partners with Make-A-Wish for Nationwide Fundraiser

Inspired by The Learning Experience's preschool philanthropy curriculum, "Let"s Grant Wishes" campaign teaches children about the importance of kindness and helping others while raising funds for Make-A-Wish April 01, 2022 // Franchising.com // Deerfield Beach, Fla. - The Learning Experience® has partnered with Make-A-Wish® Foundation as it hosts the nationwide fundraiser, Let's Grant Wishes, beginning Friday, April 1. The month-long fundraising event will take place at The Learning Experience centers with over 300 locations across the country coming together to inspire hope and grant life-changing wishes for children battling critical illnesses. Throughout the month of April, preschool children at The Learning Experience centers will learn about Make-A-Wish, the importance of kindness and helping others, and the positive difference they can make in the world when they work together. Guided by teachers and The Learning Experience's philanthropy curriculum characters "Charity Chihuahua" and "Grace the Greyhound," children will engage in philanthropic activities, participate in group projects, and create unique arts and crafts as centers and families raise donations through online fundraising pages and special events. "We are extremely proud of our lasting partnership with Make-A-Wish as we teach children across the country the value of generosity and kindness both in and out of the classroom," said Brad Wahl, Chief Brand Officer of The Learning Experience. "We look forward to bringing all of our centers, families, and communities together to inspire hope, create a meaningful impact, and grant life-changing wishes while educating children about the powerful life lesson of philanthropy." To kickoff Let's Grant Wishes in April, The Learning Experience and its "Bubbles and Friends" educational video series for kids launched a special episode dedicated to Riley Rose and The Sherman Family, who are part of The Learning Experience and Make-A-Wish families. In 2019, The Sherman's established The Riley Rose Foundation, a namesake foundation established to keep their daughter’s spirit and joy alive by funding research grants to hospitals battling childhood cancer and purchasing, filling, and maintaining Riley Rose Art Carts, which are filled with a variety of arts and crafts supplies and brought to patients who are either inpatient in the hospital or in the clinic receiving live-saving treatments. The Learning Experience's Let's Grant Wishes nationwide fundraiser is an extension of its proprietary philanthropy curriculum which was created in partnership with Make-A-Wish Southern Florida. It is dedicated to continuously educating the youngest of learners the value and application of kindness and generosity in class, at home, and in their communities. Through weekly lessons, activities, and fundraising events for nonprofit organizations, the philanthropy curriculum teaches children it doesn't matter how big or small you are, it's the size of your heart that matters. In addition to instilling powerful life lessons in children, The Learning Experience's philanthropy curriculum has helped contribute millions in monetary donations and gifts to a variety of nonprofit organizations in communities across the country, including more than $1.4 million for Make-A-Wish through its annual nationwide fundraising campaign that began in 2018. The Learning Experience CEO and Co-Founder Richard Weissman has also been a longtime board member of Make-A-Wish Southern Florida and was appointed chairman of the nonprofit organization's chapter in 2020.
