Reduced Visibility on I-80, US-85, US-385: Drive with Caution
Motorists should drive with caution on I-80, US-85, and US-385 this morning due to reduced visibility from fog and low clouds, according to a Special Weather Statement from NWS Cheyenne WY, effective until 8:30 AM MDT.
Motorists are urged to slow down and allow for extra travel time this morning due to significantly reduced visibility in parts of Box Butte, Scotts Bluff, Banner, Morrill, Kimball, and Cheyenne counties in Nebraska, and South Sioux, South Laramie Range Foothills, Central Laramie County, and East Laramie County in Wyoming. A Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Cheyenne WY at 5:05 AM MDT, effective until 8:30 AM MDT, warns of low clouds and fog.
Webcams show visibilities are occasionally at or below one half mile near Cheyenne, Kimball, Alliance, and Sidney. The NWS anticipates low clouds and fog to develop further west along the Interstate 25 corridor over the next few hours. Visibilities are expected to fluctuate between one quarter mile and two miles before 10:00 AM MDT.
Drivers should be prepared for sudden changes in visibility. Travel with caution and increase following distances.
