Strong Thunderstorms Bringing 50 MPH Winds, Hail to Kimball, East Laramie County

Residents in Kimball and East Laramie County are advised to seek shelter indoors as strong thunderstorms are currently moving through the area. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Cheyenne has issued a Special Weather Statement, effective until 7:00 PM MDT tonight, September 19, 2026.

As of 6:22 PM MDT, Doppler radar detected strong thunderstorms extending from 7 miles east of Hereford to near Panorama Point, and 8 miles northeast of Pawnee Buttes. These storms are moving northeast at 20 mph.

The primary hazards associated with these storms include wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea-size hail. The NWS indicates that gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and displace unsecured outdoor objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is also possible.
