Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Kiowa, Prowers Counties, CO Until 7:15 PM MDT

Residents in Kiowa and Prowers Counties, Colorado, should seek immediate shelter due to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Pueblo CO. This warning is in effect until 7:15 PM MDT today, September 20.

At 6:43 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles northwest of Bristol, approximately 15 miles northeast of Lamar, moving south at 20 mph. The NWS indicates radar-confirmed hazards include golf ball-sized hail and wind gusts up to 70 mph.

Impacts are expected to be significant: people and animals outdoors are at risk of injury. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Considerable tree damage is likely, and wind damage to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings is also anticipated.

Locations impacted include Holly, Granada, Hartman, and Bristol.

A tornado watch remains in effect for the warned area. While a tornado is not immediately likely, residents should be prepared to act quickly if one is spotted.
