Lake Wales Residents: University Tuition Refund Policy Update

Lake Wales residents enrolled at the university may receive tuition refunds under specific conditions outlined in the institution's updated policy.

The policy establishes separate refund scales for regular semester courses, which last 10 weeks or longer, and accelerated semester courses, which are shorter than 10 weeks.

For regular semester courses, students who withdraw or reduce their course load for reasons beyond their control can receive a refund based on the week of withdrawal. A 100% refund is available if the withdrawal occurs within the first week. The refund decreases to 75% in the second week, 50% in the third week, and 25% in the fourth week. No refunds are issued for withdrawals from the fifth week onward.

Students facing disciplinary action are ineligible for tuition refunds. Similarly, those who withdraw or alter their schedules unofficially will not receive a refund. The university administration may withdraw students who fail to attend classes during the initial weeks of a semester.

Refunds involving financial aid will be processed only after aid awards have been adjusted or withdrawn. The policy clarifies that refunds do not extend to lab or other academic fees. Residence hall fees align with the tuition refund schedule, while meal plan refunds are prorated.

For accelerated semester courses, the refund structure mirrors the regular semester but with a shorter timeline. Students must submit their withdrawal requests electronically or in writing to their advisor. Failure to attend classes does not constitute an official withdrawal.
