Lake Wales Code Enforcement Board Addresses City Ordinance Violations

The Lake Wales Code Enforcement Board meets the second Monday of each month to address city ordinance violations. The board imposes administrative fines and other noncriminal penalties for ongoing or repeated violations of health and sanitation, occupational licensing, fire, building, zoning, and sign ordinances.

Residents may attend the meetings at 5:30 p.m. at 201 W. Central Avenue. These meetings are important for upholding city ordinances and contributing to the community's health, safety, and appearance.

The seven-member board includes Dwight Wilson, Courtney Schmitt, Bruce Austell, Sara Jones, Cathy Hammel, and Fabiola Valencia. Two alternate positions remain unfilled.

The board plays a key role in maintaining city standards by encouraging compliance with regulations designed to protect public health and safety and preserve Lake Wales' character.
