Printmaking Workshop at Arts on Douglas: No Press Needed!

Printmaking Without a Press: Image Transfers and Rubbings With Lisa Orman Saturday, August 17th 10am-1pm $85 Explore alternative printmaking techniques without using a traditional press. In this workshop, students will learn how to create unique prints using image transfers and rubbings. Lisa will provide a variety of materials to experiment with, including: stencils, textured papers, inks and mark-making tools. Students will learn how to create monoprints through image transfers, as well as a variety of rubbing techniques to create layered mixed-media art. All skill levels are welcome, no prior experience is necessary. All materials are included. About the Artist: Lisa received a BFA from Kendall College of Art and Design and an MFA from University of Cincinnati.

Learn Cyanotype Printing on Fabric at Arts on Douglas

Cyanotype Printing on Fabric with Heidi Tritschler Saturday, July 27th 10am-1pm $85 Learn the historic photographic process of cyanotype printing on fabric with artist, Heidi Tritschler. Cyanotype is one of the earliest photographic processes, that uses UV light or sunlight to create a rich cyan-blue print. The process was discovered in 1842, and was commonly used for producing copies of technical drawings, which is where the term “blueprint” originated. In this workshop you will explore methods of creating unique patterns and imagery; using found objects, stencils and hand drawn imagery on fabric. Students will leave with multiple cyanotype prints on fabric, and the knowledge to continue experimenting at home! All materials are included. About the Artist: Heidi Tritschler is an artist, designer, and educator living in Central Florida. She received her MFA in textiles from Arizona State University and BFA in fibers from Oregon College of Art and Craft. Heidi has taught workshops and classes at colleges and art centers throughout the country. She has exhibited her artwork nationally and internationally.

"Volusia County will hold a workshop for organizations interested in applying for ECHO (Environmental, Cultural, Historical, and Outdoor Recreation) program grants at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, at the Volusia County Agricultural Center, 3100 E. New York Ave., DeLand. ECHO grants help fund projects that acquire, protect and improve Volusia County’s environmental, cultural, historical and outdoor recreational resources. The workshop is designed to help potential applicants understand the eligibility requirements, application procedures and project evaluation criteria. ECHO grant applications will be accepted from June 3 through July 31. The ECHO program is funded by a voter-approved property tax. Ordinance 19-24: An ordinance amending the zoning code.
