Lake Alfred residents and businesses will see sanitation service charges increase by 3% on Oct. 1, 2024, and again on Oct. 1 of each even-numbered year thereafter, including 2026. These adjustments apply to single-family dwellings, mobile homes, apartment buildings, and commercial establishments.
For single-family homes and mobile homes, the monthly rate for one 95-gallon trash receptacle will be $21.28. Each additional receptacle costs $7 per month. Extra collections or items placed outside the receptacle will incur a $6.16 fee. Residential customers must pay a two-month service fee deposit before service begins, which is refundable upon termination.
Commercial collection rates also change. A standard 95-gallon receptacle for one weekly collection, including a 20% surcharge on the residential rate, will cost $21.28 per month. Each additional commercial receptacle is $6.60 per month. Additional collections or items outside the receptacle for commercial clients will cost $7.39 per request. Commercial customers also require a two-month service fee deposit, refundable at service termination.
All customers will pay a $2.06 monthly fuel adjustment fee. This fee will increase by 3% every Oct. 1 following the ordinance's effective date. Residential collection rates and other fees will automatically increase by 3% every two years on Oct. 1, with the next increase scheduled for 2028.
For specific debris removal, brush collection costs $5 per scoop, with the first three scoops of yard debris and trash/junk per week free. Trash/junk removal is $5.50 per scoop, and contractor debris removal is $10 per scoop.
Residents can dispose of hazardous materials at the Polk County landfill hazardous waste station or at the Public Works Department during the annual Spring Clean-up Week. For information on hazardous material drop-off, call the Public Works Department at 863-298-5458.
