Lake Alfred Commission Votes on Downtown Rezoning

The Lake Alfred City Commission will consider a zoning map amendment for a roughly 0.8-acre property at 430 N Lake Shore Way. The proposal would change the parcel's designation from Vintage Residential Neighborhood (VRN) to Neighborhood Activity Center (C-1) zoning.

The property is located within the downtown overlay district, between W Alfred Street and W Swoop Street, and bordered by N Buena Vista Drive and N Lake Shore Way. Its Polk County Property Appraiser parcel identification number is 262732-503000-009010.

The City of Lake Alfred states the ordinance aims to implement growth policy and land development regulations, consistent with Florida Statutes Part II of Chapter 163.

A business impact estimate provided by the city indicates the proposed ordinance will not directly affect private, for-profit businesses. The estimate states no compliance costs, new charges, or fees will be imposed on businesses, and no local business impact is anticipated.

The City Commission will also transmit the amendment to the Florida Department of Commerce. The ordinance repeals conflicting ordinances, provides for severability, and allows administrative corrections.
