Martin County residents who receive a traffic citation now have clear guidelines for payment options and deadlines. Understanding these procedures helps avoid additional penalties and ensures proper processing of your ticket.
The Martin County Clerk's office requires 5 to 7 days to process a traffic citation before residents can make a payment. This processing period applies to all citations, regardless of the payment method chosen. Residents should factor this timeframe into their plans to meet the 30-day payment window for online options.
Several convenient payment methods are available. Online payments are accepted within 30 days of the citation date, and this option also allows individuals to elect for driver improvement school. A service charge applies for online credit card payments, while eChecks incur a flat fee of $1.50. Residents can also pay in person at the Clerk's Main Office, located at 100 SE Ocean Boulevard, 2nd Floor of the Main Courthouse in Stuart. This office operates from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding legal holidays.
For those in other parts of the county, branch offices offer in-person payment services. The Hobe Sound Branch Office, at 11730 SE Federal Highway in the Island Crossing Shopping Plaza, operates from 8 am to Noon and 1 pm to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. The Indiantown Branch Office, located at 16550 SW Warfield Boulevard, is open from 8 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 4:30 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays. Both branch offices accept credit card, cash, check, or money order payments, with a service charge for credit card transactions. Additionally, residents can pay by phone by calling the Traffic Division between 8 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday, except legal holidays.
Residents should allow sufficient time for the Clerk's office to process their citation before attempting payment. This ensures timely resolution and prevents potential issues with deadlines. For any questions, residents can contact the Traffic Division during business hours.
