Shelter Indoors: Strong Thunderstorms with 40 MPH Winds Approaching

Residents in Madison, Inland Taylor, Lafayette, and Coastal Taylor counties are advised to seek shelter indoors immediately. A Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, FL, effective until 11:00 PM EDT tonight, October 10, 2026.
At 10:07 PM EDT, Doppler radar detected strong thunderstorms moving northeast at 30 mph. These storms are currently located along a line extending from 10 miles northwest of Madison to 11 miles south of Perry. The primary hazard is wind gusts up to 40 mph, which could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include Madison, Perry, Lee, Pinland, Moseley Hall, Chancey, Smith, Hopewell, Cherry Lake, Hamburg, Buckville, Carbur, Pinetta, Mayo Junction, Lovett, Townsend, Foley, Hanson, Bucell Junction, and Athena.
The National Weather Service recommends that if you are outdoors, you should seek shelter inside a building. These storms may intensify. Monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
