Freeze Watch Issued for Grande Ronde Valley: Protect Plants Now
A Freeze Watch has been issued for the Grande Ronde Valley from this evening until Tuesday morning, with temperatures as low as 21 degrees Fahrenheit expected, threatening plants and outdoor plumbing.
Residents in the Grande Ronde Valley should take immediate steps to protect sensitive plants and outdoor plumbing. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Pendleton, OR, has issued a Freeze Watch effective from this evening, October 12, until Tuesday morning, October 13, at 9:00 AM PDT.
Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 21 degrees Fahrenheit are possible. These conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, and potentially damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. The Freeze Watch was issued today, October 12, at 9:54 AM PDT.
The NWS advises community members to take action now to cover or bring indoors any tender plants susceptible to cold temperatures. Inspect outdoor plumbing and consider draining or insulating pipes that are exposed to prevent damage.
