Orangegate Park North Project Project Update - August 2026 Following forest thinning operations in July 2025, the northern 40 acres of Orangegate Park (also known as Orangegate Park North) remain closed and inaccessible to the public. Orangegate Park North will open to the public at the completion of the capital improvement project in late 2027-early 2028. The first master plan was developed in 2007 but never implemented. The Master Plan update was adopted in 2021.  What's happening in Orangegate North The 40-acre parcel in Orangegate Park's northern section will feature: ADA nature playground Off-leash dog park Park shelters Restrooms Parking area Environmental restoration work Wooded areas Wetlands and a variety of wildlife habitats Soft-surface hiking  Safe pedestrian crossing of 84th St at 46th Ave Connection to the Pipeline Trail About the Park Orangegate Park is an undeveloped approximately 150-acre property that is located in the Summit-Waller community at the intersection of 84th Street East and 46th Avenue East. The property is split by the Tacoma Water Pipeline, which will be developed with a new trail in 2023, and 84th Street East. Pierce County Parks purchased the property from the Washington Department of Natural Resources in 1998. Project Schedule Project Schedule 2021: Master Plan Update adopted  2022-23: Design and construction of Phase 1 improvements and construction of soft surface trails 2023 -24: Construction of Pipeline Trail and Trailhead at Orangegate Park, fence installation along park boundaries, logging and trail building.  2027: Construction of Orangegate North area 2028: Project complete and park open to the public TBD: Phase 2 park improvements   Project Photos    Click on one of images below to enlarge it.
