Kissimmee Utility Authority will deploy its Summer Smart Squad throughout the high-bill season to help customers reduce energy costs through practical, actionable tips.
The five-member team includes Celina Pizarro, a customer service representative who addresses billing questions; Todd Wexler, senior energy conservation specialist; Richard McCrimon, an apprentice lineman; Rafael Eriksson, a mechanical maintenance technician; and Sparky, the KUA mascot.
The squad will share weekly energy-saving recommendations on social media, including:
Close blinds or curtains during peak daylight hours. Set thermostats between 76–78°F. Clean air filters regularly. Seal doors and windows. Wash clothes in cold water. Use energy-efficient appliance settings. Run ceiling fans counterclockwise. Minimize oven preheating. Install a programmable thermostat.
