Kissimmee, FL – Brian Thompson, a dedicated former EMT, Haz Mat Technician, and volunteer firefighter, passed away on September 9, 2026, at the age of 67. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on June 19, 1959, Thompson spent his life committed to public service and disaster relief.
Thompson's career was marked by numerous certifications in rescue operations, including first aid/CPR, emergency radio communications, confined space and rope rescue, and open water search and recovery. His passion for helping those in need was a defining characteristic throughout his life.
In his final years, Thompson experienced a significant period of reconciliation and healing, reuniting with family in Florida. This time was described by his loved ones as filled with deep healing, shared laughter, and the restoration of broken relationships.
Thompson's faith was central to his life, finding solace and purpose in his belief in Jesus Christ. He often related his faith to Psalm 34, reflecting his commitment to comforting the brokenhearted and his pursuit of peace, healing, and joy in his later years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Barbara Thompson. He is survived by his brother, Robin Thompson (Lynn), his niece Amber Hansen (Colin), his nephew Scot Thompson (Jennifer), and five great-nieces and nephews.
A family graveside service was held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery in Kissimmee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Wayne Township Fire Department or Florida Disaster Relief, honoring Thompson's lifelong dedication to emergency response and disaster assistance.
