Key West Opens John Jones Navigation Center for Unhoused
Key West opened the John Jones Navigation Center on College Road, a 150-bed shelter offering services to help unhoused residents reintegrate into the community.
Dr. Donna Jones and Phillip Jones, the daughter and son of the center's namesake, cut the ribbon at the ceremony, which drew family members, social service providers, Keystar Construction representatives, and city officials.
The center honors John Jones, the former Assistant City Manager who in the early 2000s pushed the city to address homelessness. Jones worked with local agencies to establish the Keys Overnight Temporary Shelter, or KOTS, which preceded the new facility.
Keystar Construction won the contract for the project. Construction began in April 2024.
