Bears Draft Thieneman 25th Overall in 2026 NFL Draft
The Chicago Bears selected safety Dillon Thieneman from Oregon with the 25th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. This marks the team's first-round move to bolster its defensive backfield.
General Manager Ryan Poles addressed the media following the selection. Poles indicated Head Coach Ben Johnson's positive reaction to the pick, observing Johnson's excited body language during the draft process. Johnson had actively participated in player evaluations with the front office and coaching staff.
Thieneman will pair with free-agent acquisition Coby Bryant in the Bears' safety unit. The team targets improved pass coverage and increased speed in the secondary. Thieneman's reported tackling ability also contributed to the team's decision.
