Residents in the Ketchikan Gateway Borough and Annette Island should secure loose outdoor objects and prepare for potential power outages as a Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service in Juneau. The advisory is effective immediately, September 27, at 6:43 PM AKDT, and will remain in effect until Monday, September 28, at 1:00 AM AKDT.

South winds are expected to reach speeds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts potentially as high as 50 mph. These strong winds could blow around unsecured objects, and tree limbs may be blown down. Isolated power outages are also a possibility.

The National Weather Service advises that winds of this strength can make travel difficult. Residents are urged to use extra caution when outdoors or driving during this period.
