Residents in parts of Allen, DeKalb, and Noble Counties must seek shelter immediately. The National Weather Service (NWS) Northern Indiana has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning effective until 9:00 PM EDT tonight, September 15, 2026.

At 8:34 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were detected along a line stretching from near Avilla to Huntertown to six miles southeast of Churubusco, moving east at 25 mph. The primary hazard is 60 mph wind gusts, which could cause damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Impacted locations include Huntertown, Ari, Ege, and Laotto. This warning also covers Interstate 69 in Indiana between mile markers 317 and 323.

For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Strong winds may precede rain or lightning; do not wait for thunder to take cover. Seek shelter inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows. Torrential rainfall is also occurring, which may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
