Boaters on Flathead Lake and surrounding lakes should exercise extra caution today, October 9, as a Lake Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service Missoula MT. The advisory is in effect from noon today until 9:00 PM MDT this evening.

Southwest winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph are expected. These conditions will create strong winds and rough waves, posing hazardous conditions for small craft. Additionally, potential dock damage is possible on the eastern half of Flathead Lake.

Strong winds and rough waves can overturn small craft. Those planning to be on area lakes during this period should be aware of these conditions and take appropriate safety measures.
