Arlington ISD Adds New Healthcare Benefits and Special Education Pay Increases for 2026-2027

The Arlington ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved a compensation plan for the 2026-2027 school year that adds new healthcare benefits for employees.

The Arlington ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved a compensation plan for the 2026-2027 school year that adds new healthcare benefits for employees.   Arlington ISD is already a leader in the Metroplex for competitive teacher and staff pay, and the new healthcare benefits make the district’s compensation plan stronger. The newly adopted plan for 2026-2027 also boosts support for special education classroom teachers by increasing the Special Education Specialized Programs stipend by $500, bringing the total stipend to $3,500.   “Despite the current financial challenges facing public school districts across Texas, our commitment to supporting our dedicated teachers and staff remains unwavering,” said Arlington ISD Board President Sarah McMurrough. “We are fortunate to be in a position to offer new healthcare benefits, and we will continue to advocate at the state level for increased public education funding so that future compensation increases for our employees can be realized.”   Enhancements to Healthcare Benefits The new healthcare benefits in the 2026-2027 compensation plan are designed to reduce out-of-pocket costs for staff: New Clinic Care – Arlington ISD is planning to offer a third-party clinic network conveniently located within the district, anticipated to open in the spring of 2027. Employees enrolled in the Arlington ISD medical plan will receive clinic services (primary, urgent care, telemedicine) at no cost. Employees not enrolled in the medical plan may also join the clinic network for a low monthly rate, and dependents may be added to the clinic network for an affordable cost. Healthcare Premium Contribution Increase – Employees who participate in the district’s wellness program currently receive a wellness credit of $51 on their health insurance premiums. Beginning in 2026–2027, employees who achieve “Platinum Status” in the wellness program will receive an additional district contribution of $28.25 per month, further reducing the cost of their medical premiums. The total premium incentive available through the wellness program will now be $79.25 per month. “We are grateful for the Board of Trustees’ strategic investment in employee benefits for the Arlington ISD team. Even as we implement strategic cost-saving adjustments across the district, our Board continues to find ways to support our employees.”
