Lee Health Awarded Magnet Designation for Nursing Excellence

Lee Health Awarded Magnet Designation for Nursing Excellence Cape Coral Hospital, Gulf Coast Medical Center, HealthPark Medical Center, and Lee Memorial Hospital Earn Prestigious Recognition Lee Health has earned Magnet designation for nursing excellence at Cape Coral Hospital, Gulf Coast Medical Center, HealthPark Medical Center, and Lee Memorial Hospital. This prestigious recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) is the highest honor an organization can receive for professional nursing practice. Only approximately 9% of U.S. hospitals hold Magnet recognition. The Magnet Recognition Program assesses various factors related to nursing excellence and patient care, including the quality of nursing leadership and coordination and collaboration across disciplines. Magnet recognition provides specific benefits to health care organizations, such as: Higher job satisfaction among nurses Lower nurse turnover rates Improved patient outcomes A culture of safety Higher levels of patient satisfaction “Achieving Magnet designation is a tremendous accomplishment that reflects Lee Health’s unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care to our patients and our community,” said Dr. Larry Antonucci, president and CEO of Lee Health. “This prestigious recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and expertise of our nurses and the entire health care team.” Magnet recognition is valid for four years, during which time ANCC continues to monitor and evaluate the organization’s performance.
