West Mountainview Road closure near Fink Drive concluded

Jonesborough residents who travel West Mountainview Road north of Fink Drive can now expect normal traffic flow. The sewer line extension project that caused a week-long closure has concluded, easing commutes for those heading towards the historic heart of Jonesborough.

Johnson City Water and Sewer Services began the work on Monday, May 4, 2026, extending sewer lines across West Mountainview Road. The project necessitated a closure of the road from Knob Creek Road to West Oakland Avenue to all through traffic, including emergency vehicles, impacting access to neighborhoods like Franklin Park. The installation was completed by Friday, May 8, 2026, or upon completion of all necessary work.

During the closure, residents living on West Mountainview Road were rerouted. Those south of Fink Drive accessed their homes via Knob Creek Road, while residents north of Fink Drive used West Oakland Avenue. Drivers were advised to use caution in the construction zone and observe posted speed limits for their safety and the safety of workers, particularly as they navigated near the familiar surroundings of the Jonesborough Elementary School area.
