Residents in Johnson, Cocke Smoky Mountains, Southeast Greene, Unicoi, Southeast Carter, Blount Smoky Mountains, Sevier Smoky Mountains, and Southeast Monroe counties should prepare for a High Wind Watch effective from Saturday morning, October 10th, through Sunday morning, October 11th. The National Weather Service (NWS) Morristown TN has issued this watch, warning of severe winds.

Southeast winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are possible in the affected areas. The NWS indicates a potential for even stronger gusts, reaching 60-80 mph, in the mountains and foothills. These damaging winds could lead to downed trees and power lines, with widespread power outages possible. Travel may become difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles.

Day.News advises all residents in the affected counties to monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates as this weather event approaches. Take precautions now to secure outdoor items and prepare for potential power disruptions.
