York County Probate Court Moves to Moss Justice Center
York County Probate Court has relocated from the Historical Courthouse to the second floor of the Moss Justice Center at 1675 York Highway. The move came as the Historical Courthouse at 2 S. Congress Street closed for renovations.
Judge Carolyn Woodruff now requires appointments for all estate and guardianship administrations and marriage license applications. Call 803-684-8513 or email the court to schedule. No appointment is needed for certified marriage license copies or document pickup and delivery.
Estate records from 1975 to present are available online at www.southcarolinaprobate.net/search. The database updates nightly. Documents are free to view; printing costs $2 per page. Search by exact name spelling.
Marriage licenses can be requested by mail for $5 per copy with a self-addressed stamped envelope, or through the online portal. Public computers at the Register of Deeds office, 6 S. Congress St., also provide access to estate files and marriage licenses.
Woodruff hosts free monthly sessions on inventory preparation at 10 a.m. on the third Wednesday of each month at the Moss Justice Center. No appointment required. Check in with the court receptionist on the second floor for room location.
