A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service Morristown TN, effective from midnight EDT tonight (October 9) until 8:00 AM EDT Sunday, October 11. Residents in affected areas should secure loose outdoor objects and prepare for potential power outages.

East winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph. Stronger wind gusts are possible in higher elevations.

The advisory covers portions of East Tennessee, including Scott, Campbell, Claiborne, Hancock, Hawkins, Sullivan, Morgan, Anderson, Union, Grainger, Hamblen, Northwest Cocke, Northwest Greene, Washington, Northwest Carter, Roane, Loudon, Knox, Jefferson, NW Blount, North Sevier, Sequatchie, Bledsoe, Rhea, Meigs, McMinn, and Northwest Monroe counties. In Southwest Virginia, the advisory includes Lee, Wise, and Scott counties.

These conditions can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. The National Weather Service advises using extra caution on the roads. Tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may result.
