A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Jasper, effective immediately as of October 9 at 10:31 PM CDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, MS. This warning is set to expire on October 10 at 6:45 AM UTC.

While sustained winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force, with peak gusts up to 45 mph, the primary concern is the potential for moderate flooding rain. Emergency plans should account for the possibility of moderate flooding, which may lead to evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries could become swollen, and floodwaters may enter some structures. Heed any flood watches and warnings, as failure to take action may result in serious injury or loss of life. Consider protective actions if you reside in an area vulnerable to flooding.

The NWS reports that the situation is currently unfavorable for tornadoes, and little to no impacts from tornadoes are expected at this time. However, listen for any changes in the forecast.

Community officials are currently assessing any realized wind impacts. For ongoing updates and instructions, monitor local officials and the National Weather Service.
