Residents across a wide area of Central Alabama should secure outdoor objects and exercise caution while driving today, October 10th. A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service in Birmingham, effective until 7:00 PM CDT this evening.
Southeast winds are expected to reach 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph. These conditions can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. The National Weather Service warns that gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, and there is a possibility of downed trees and scattered power outages.
The advisory impacts the following counties: Autauga, Barbour, Bibb, Bullock, Chambers, Chilton, Clay, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Marion, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Pike, Randolph, Russell, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa, Walker, and Winston.
Drivers are advised to use extra caution. Secure any outdoor items that could be moved by strong winds to prevent damage or injury.
