JSO Shopping Cart Roundup Cleans Up Jacksonville Streets

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Blight Unit officers, in partnership with the city, recently conducted the first shopping cart roundup to address local blight. The operation targeted Beach and Atlantic boulevards, collecting 54 abandoned shopping carts.
Some carts contained trash, while others were found in wooded areas, contributing to neighborhood eyesores. Officers removed the carts from streets, sidewalks and neighborhoods and returned them to their respective stores.
The initiative aims to keep Jacksonville looking its best by preventing litter and improving the visual appeal of public spaces. Residents can report abandoned shopping carts and other instances of blight to the appropriate city services.
