A Jacksonville woman is in custody after police say she shot a man during a domestic dispute early Sunday. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to the incident at 12:50 a.m. Oct. 4, 2026, at the Edge at Town Center Apartments, 3544 St. Johns Bluff Road South.

Officers found a man in his mid-40s with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his upper leg. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue transported him to a local hospital.

Investigators determined the victim and the suspect, a woman in her late 30s, are in a domestic relationship. The argument occurred inside the suspect's residence, where she allegedly fired a single shot that struck the man.

Authorities believe the shooting was an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the community. The suspect is currently being interviewed by detectives.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting can contact the JSO at 904-630-0500, email [email protected], or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
