Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Jackson County; Act Now
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Jackson County, including Marianna, until 1:30 PM UTC today, with dangerous winds, major flooding, and potential tornadoes expected; residents must complete preparations immediately.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Jackson County, effective immediately, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL. Residents, particularly those in Marianna, must complete all preparations now as dangerous conditions are expected.
The warning is in effect until 1:30 PM UTC on October 9, 2026. Winds are forecast to reach 15-25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, with a potential for winds between 58 to 73 mph. Significant wind damage is possible, including damage to roofing, siding, and mobile homes, along with widespread downed trees and power outages.
A Flood Watch is also in effect. Additional rainfall of 3-6 inches is expected, with localized higher amounts, posing a potential for major flooding. Evacuations and rescues are likely, and residents in flood-vulnerable areas should strongly consider protective actions. Rivers and small streams may rapidly overflow, making many roads impassable.
The NWS also indicates a potential for several tornadoes, some possibly intense. Residents in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued.
