A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for the Jackson area, including Marianna, by NWS Tallahassee FL, urging immediate preparations for hazardous winds, major flooding, and potential tornadoes.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for the Jackson area, effective immediately, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL. This warning was issued on October 8 at 11:05 PM EDT and is set to expire on October 9 at 7:15 AM UTC.
Residents in Marianna are specifically advised to act now to complete preparations. Winds are forecast to be 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, with potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Limited damage to property such as porches, awnings, and unanchored mobile homes is possible. Expect large tree limbs to break and scattered power outages.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with 3-6 inches of rain anticipated, and locally higher amounts. Major rainfall flooding is possible, potentially leading to evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings. Rivers and small streams may overflow, and roads could become impassable. Driving conditions will be dangerous.
The situation is favorable for tornadoes, with potential for several, some possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings. If a tornado warning is issued, shelter quickly.
