Tropical Storm Watch Issued for Marianna: Prepare for High Winds, Flooding
A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Marianna, urging residents to prepare for high winds, major flooding, and the potential for tornadoes within the next 48 hours, according to the NWS.
A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Marianna, effective immediately, by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee, FL, as of October 7 at 4:52 PM EDT. This means tropical storm-force winds are possible within the next 48 hours. The watch is set to expire on October 8 at 1:00 AM UTC.
Residents in Marianna should act now to complete preparations for hazardous wind conditions, with peak gusts up to 35 mph. Efforts to protect property should be underway. Limited wind damage is possible, including damage to lightweight objects and some tree limbs. Scattered power outages are also a possibility.
The NWS also warns of a significant threat of major flooding rain, with an additional 4-8 inches of rainfall possible, and locally higher amounts. Emergency plans should include potential evacuations and rescues. Strongly consider protective actions if you are in a flood-prone area. Heed any flood watches and warnings; failure to take action could result in serious injury or loss of life.
A few tornadoes are also possible. If your shelter is vulnerable to tornadoes, prepare to relocate to a safer location before hazardous weather arrives. If a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly.
