CLARKE COUNTY, AL – A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Clarke County, effective October 7 at 9:53 PM CDT, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL. Residents in Jackson, Thomasville, and Grove Hill should finalize preparations immediately.

Significant wind damage is expected with peak wind gusts reaching 45 mph, and a potential for strong tropical storm force winds (58-73 mph). Damage to roofing, siding, and mobile homes is possible, along with downed trees and power outages. Efforts to protect life and property should be underway now.

Moderate flooding rain is anticipated, with 3-6 inches of rainfall and locally higher amounts. This may lead to localized flooding, evacuations, and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings. The NWS also indicates a potential for a few tornadoes. Residents should be prepared to shelter quickly if a tornado warning is issued.
