A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Itawamba County, including Fulton, from October 9 at 4:09 PM CDT until October 10 at 12:15 AM CDT; prepare for hazardous winds up to 57 mph and moderate flooding.
Itawamba County residents, including Fulton, must act immediately to complete preparations as a Tropical Storm Warning has been issued. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Memphis, TN, issued the warning today, October 9, at 4:09 PM CDT, effective until 12:15 AM CDT on October 10.
Hazardous winds are expected, with peak forecasts of 15-25 mph and gusts up to 45 mph. There is potential for winds between 39 to 57 mph. Residents should plan for limited wind damage, including potential damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes. Expect broken tree limbs, a few snapped or uprooted trees, and scattered power and communications outages. Efforts to protect property should be underway now.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 1-3 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. This could lead to moderate flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may quickly swell, and floodwaters could enter some structures. Heed all flood watches and warnings. Driving conditions may become hazardous, with some road and bridge closures possible.
