The remnants of Hurricane Isaias are expected to bring gusty winds and heavy rainfall across portions of northeast Mississippi, including Lee, Itawamba, Chickasaw, and Monroe counties. This Tropical Cyclone Local Statement was issued by the National Weather Service in Memphis, TN, today, October 10, at 2:20 AM CDT.
While all watches and warnings related to the tropical storm have been canceled, residents in the affected areas should prepare for potential impacts. A Wind Advisory will replace the previous Tropical Storm Warning. Expect possible limited damage to unanchored structures, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages. Hazardous driving conditions may occur on bridges and elevated roadways. Dangerous rainfall flooding is also possible, potentially leading to evacuations and rescues, swollen rivers, and localized rapid inundation in low-lying areas. Some roads and bridges may close.
The storm's remnants are currently located about 230 miles southeast of Tupelo, MS, moving north at 20 mph with a storm intensity of 65 mph.
