Five Candidates File for Islamorada Village Council Seats in November Election

Islamorada will hold a municipal election on November 3, 2026, with all five Village Council seats on the ballot.

Five candidates have filed to run: Anna Richards (Seat 1), Steve Friedman (Seat 2), Deb Gillis (Seat 3), Don Horton (Seat 4), and Sharon Mahoney (Seat 5).

To qualify, candidates must be registered Florida voters and Islamorada residents. They must maintain residency throughout the two-year term.

Campaign signs may go up starting September 19, 30 days before early voting begins on October 19. Signs must come down by November 10.

Islamorada has no municipal primary, but county, state, and federal primary elections will occur on August 18. Political signs for that primary may be displayed starting July 4.

Residents can contact the Village Clerk at [email protected] or (305) 664-6412 for information on election dates, candidate requirements, and the new Campaign Finance Portal.
