On September 22, 2025, Obetz City Council passed Ordinance 56-25, officially designating the City of Obetz as a Bee City USA® affiliate. This designation reflects the City’s commitment to supporting pollinators and promoting environmentally responsible practices throughout the community.

On September 22, 2025, Obetz City Council passed Ordinance 56-25, officially designating the City of Obetz as a Bee City USA® affiliate. This designation reflects the City’s commitment to supporting pollinators and promoting environmentally responsible practices throughout the community. Pollinators—including bees, butterflies, and other insects—play a vital role in sustaining ecosystems and food production, contributing to the reproduction of nearly 90% of flowering plants. In recent years, pollinator populations have declined due to habitat loss, pesticide use, and environmental changes. What This Means for Obetz Through this designation, the City will: Support the creation and enhancement of pollinator-friendly habitats Follow Bee City USA® guidelines related to education, outreach, and environmental practices Utilize Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies to reduce unnecessary pesticide use Promote awareness of how residents can help protect pollinators  What Residents May Notice As part of this initiative, residents may begin to see “Bee City USA” signage throughout Obetz. These signs identify areas where pollinator-friendly practices are being implemented and highlight the City’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. Additional efforts may include increased use of native plants, enhanced green spaces, and community education opportunities. How Residents Can Support Pollinators Residents are encouraged to participate by: Planting native flowers and vegetation Limiting pesticide use Creating pollinator-friendly spaces at home Allowing natural areas to support habitat and nesting Supporting a Sustainable Future Becoming a Bee City USA® affiliate is one step in Obetz’s broader effort to maintain a healthy, sustainable community. By supporting pollinators, the City is investing in environmental quality, local ecosystems, and long-term community well-being. Hamilton Student Wins Teen Art Award, Exhibit Opening

Hamilton High School senior Xzavier Mielke has been named the winner of the Teen Council Choice Award for the Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA) 2026 Teen Art Show. His large-format photograph is part of the exhibition titled “To Whom It May Concern: A Teen Perspective on Human Connection,” which runs April 25-June 21. The showcase features artwork from 29 regional high schools. The showcase theme encourages teen artists to consider what a genuine human connection looks and feels like in their lives. Organized by MOWA’s Teen Council, the exhibition recruits young artists to contemplate different contemporary issues and share their unique viewpoints. This year, students reflected on the pathways necessary for building human connection and the obstacles that stand in the way. The exhibition further challenges viewers to reflect on their own meaningful connections with the people around them. The public is invited to attend the exhibit Opening Party on April 25 from 2-4 p.m. MOWA will offer free admission to all visitors during this event. The Museum of Wisconsin Art is located at 205 Veterans Ave., West Bend. The post Hamilton student artwork selected for teen showcase appeared first on Hamilton School District.

Hamilton High to Present 'The Drowsy Chaperone'

" Hamilton High School Drama Society presents “The Drowsy Chaperone” May 1-3 at the Hamilton Fine Arts Center (HFAC). Shows begin at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. for the Sunday performance. With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and a chaperone more focused on herself then the bride, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased at www.hamiltonfineartscenter.com or at the box office 30 minutes before each performance. The HFAC is located at W220 N6151 Town Line Rd., Sussex. The post Hamilton drama presents “The Drowsy Chaperone” appeared first on Hamilton School District."
