Tulsa Police Nab Robbery Suspects in Gas Station Heists

Tulsa police arrested 28-year-old Davion Nelson Friday night after he allegedly robbed a Valero gas station near 71st Street and Sheridan. Officers say Nelson forced an employee behind the counter, stole $600 to $700, then struck the worker with a pistol before fleeing. Police apprehended Nelson at a nearby Braum's and recovered the stolen money.

In a separate incident, 35-year-old Eric Eno, a convicted sex offender who escaped an Iowa correctional facility, was captured Saturday after robbing a QuikTrip near Interstate 244 and Memorial Drive. Eno, wanted by Iowa authorities for walking away from a residential reentry program, demanded cash and Newport cigarettes at gunpoint from the cashier. Officers spotted him running across the highway and took him into custody; he faces robbery and obstructing justice charges in Tulsa County Jail on $150,000 bond.

These arrests come amid a spate of armed robberies hitting Tulsa's convenience stores. An overnight heist at Bill's Quick Stop near 54th Street North and Peoria saw a gunman flee with an unknown amount of cash around 10:30 p.m., evading K9 units hampered by nearby fireworks. Another north Tulsa robbery involved a gunman stealing casino winnings, leading to a local man's arrest.

Tulsa's eastside and northside neighborhoods, home to bustling corridors like 71st and Sheridan, have seen heightened police patrols amid rising gas station crimes. The quick captures highlight effective response times, with Nelson's loot recovered intact and Eno off the streets before further offenses.
