FWC Officer from Brevard County Honored as Officer of the Year
FWC Law Enforcement officer recognized as Officer of the Year by Shikar-Safari Club International
FWC Law Enforcement officer recognized as Officer of the Year by Shikar-Safari Club International Officer Thomas Smreczynski was recently named Officer of the Year by the Shikar-Safari Club International. Officer Smreczynski is assigned to Brevard County, which is part of the FWC’s Northeast Region. He was selected for this honor due to his dedication to protecting Florida’s natural resources and his community. During 2023, Officer Smreczynski demonstrated exceptional performance in law enforcement, resource protection and community service. His work ethic, attitude and performance are exemplary, and he is a valuable asset to the FWC and the community he serves. He issued 142 citations and 233 warnings for resource-related violations. Notably, he investigated a case involving the illegal killing of a deer with the use of dogs, leading to the arrest of two individuals for multiple felony charges. His expertise and relentless pursuit of justice resulted in the successful prosecution of the suspects involved. In addition to his law enforcement duties, Officer Smreczynski is actively involved in community outreach and education. He regularly participates in local events and initiatives, educating the public on conservation, boating safety and responsible outdoor recreation. His efforts have strengthened relationships between the FWC and the community, fostering a culture of stewardship and respect for Florida's natural resources.
