Florida's Turnpike Widening Project: Jupiter to Fort Pierce

Staff Writer
June 9, 2026
FDOT to Widen Florida's Turnpike From Jupiter to Fort Pierce

The Florida Department of Transportation is studying plans to widen Florida's Turnpike across 37 miles from Jupiter to Fort Pierce, spanning Palm Beach, Martin, and St. Lucie Counties.

The project would add capacity to accommodate projected traffic through 2045 and serve as an evacuation route for Southeast Florida residents. Planners will evaluate widening or reconstructing bridges over the Loxahatchee River and St. Lucie Canal, reconfiguring interchanges, and adding new access points. Most work would occur within existing right-of-way.
