Martin County Courthouse Dome Murals Restoration Bids

Staff Writer
May 16, 2026

Martin County is accepting sealed bids from art conservators to clean, stabilize and restore four historic murals in the dome of the Martin County Courthouse at 201 Lake Avenue in Fairmont.

Bidders must demonstrate documented experience in mural conservation. They should submit proof of qualifications, references, comparable projects and any required licenses or certifications with their bids.

Bid documents and specifications are available from the Martin County Coordinator's Office, Room 100 of the courthouse, or by contacting Scott Higgins at [email protected] or 507-238-3124. Conservators can schedule a site visit to evaluate the murals through the same office.

Sealed bids must arrive by 2 p.m. on April 16, 2026, in an envelope marked "Bid - Mural Restoration Project." Each bid must include a 5% cash deposit, cashier's check or bidder's bond payable to Martin County. Deposits from the three lowest bidders will be held for up to 60 days; all others will be refunded promptly.

The Martin County Board will consider awarding the bid at its regular meeting on April 21, 2026. The county reserves the right to reject any or all bids. Bids cannot be withdrawn within 60 days of opening.
