The Tiny Reset That Keeps Your Day From Becoming One Long Blur
Your attention doesn’t instantly follow you from one task to the next. A two-minute closing ritual can help your brain put one thing down before you pick up another.
The Tiny Word That Makes Dickinson’s Hope Fly
Emily Dickinson doesn’t describe hope as a feeling, a plan, or a promise. She calls it “the thing with feathers”—and that oddly modest word, thing, is where the poem’s magic begins.

The Radical Meaning of “Power Over Themselves”
Mary Wollstonecraft was not asking women to trade one kind of domination for another. In a sentence that still cuts through a great deal of noisy advice, she made autonomy—not superiority—the point.

Washington’s Power Test, Wall Street’s Patience Problem
The president keeps pressing the limits of executive power while Congress searches for a way to keep the government funded. Meanwhile, households keep paying for an economy that looks stronger on paper than it feels at the checkout counter.

Museum Labels Need to Stop Writing Novels
The tiny paragraph beside a painting should help us see the art, not challenge us to a hostage negotiation. Museums, please: fewer footnotes, more human beings.

Concerts in the Plaza
Concerts in the Plaza bring back the feeling of warm summer evenings when friends and families gathered in the town square to enjoy music and dancing. This popular event returns to downtown St. Augustine with live performances all summer long. The concert series features talented local and regional musicians. To celebrate America 250, this year's concerts will highlight Americana music and other styles that are an important part of America's musical history. 2026 Show Times: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Many people say this event is one of the best ways to spend a Thursday night in downtown St. Augustine. Guests can relax under the large oak trees in the Plaza de la Constitución while enjoying live music. The Plaza has been a public gathering place for more than 400 years. Located in the heart of downtown St. Augustine, the Plaza sits between Cathedral Place and King Street, just west of the Bridge of Lions. Each week, musicians perform from the Gazebo, which has stood in the center of the Plaza for nearly 100 years. Alcohol is not allowed in the Plaza, but guests are welcome to bring food and enjoy a picnic during the concert. Concerts take place every Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. If there are weather delays or cancellations, updates will be posted on the city website homepage by 5:00 PM on the day of the concert. Concerts in the Plaza is organized by the City of St. Augustine.
