Navasota Wins TML Award for Downtown Warehouse Conversion
Navasota received a 2025 Municipal Excellence Award in the City Spirit category from the Texas Municipal League during its annual conference in Fort Worth on October 29-31.
The award recognizes the city's conversion of an underutilized downtown warehouse into WildFlyer Mead and Beer Company. The city sold the building through a competitive request for proposals process that prioritized food and beverage businesses. WildFlyer has since increased downtown foot traffic and tax revenue.
Mayor Bert Miller, City Council members, city staff, and WildFlyer owners Jeff and Chelsea Murray accepted the award on behalf of Navasota.
The TML Municipal Excellence Awards recognize innovative problem-solving by Texas cities. The Texas Municipal League represents 1,171 Texas cities. Navasota is a member.
