Licking County residents can clear out clutter and protect their personal information at a free paper shredding and electronics recycling event this Saturday, September 19th, 2026. The Licking County Recycling Department, in partnership with Licking County Records & Archives, is hosting the event from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Licking County Highway Department garage complex, located at 775 E. Main Street in Newark.

The event offers a convenient way for individuals to dispose of sensitive documents and outdated electronics. For paper shredding, residents can bring personal papers and documents, with a limit of five boxes per household or individual. Businesses are not eligible for this service. All documents must be securely boxed or bagged for privacy and security. Boxes should not be taped shut, and plastic bags will not be accepted for disposal. Participants should remove paper clips, binders, and photographs from documents. The actual shredding will be conducted offsite by Ohio Mobile Shredding.

Electronics collection will be managed by Columbus Micro Systems. A wide range of electronic items will be accepted for free, including phones, computers, DVD players, gaming units, printers, cables, cameras, e-readers, monitors, servers, speakers, and battery backups. However, televisions will not be accepted at this event. Residents with TVs for disposal are encouraged to contact Licking County Recycling for alternative options.

This initiative aims to provide a secure and environmentally responsible method for residents to manage personal documents and electronic waste. The Licking County Recycling Department reminds residents that they are not responsible for the data contained within any documents submitted for shredding.
