Licking County residents can clear out old documents and unwanted electronics at a free recycling event this Saturday, September 19th, 2026. The Licking County Recycling Department, in partnership with Licking County Records & Archives, is hosting the event from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Licking County Highway Department garage complex, located at 775 E. Main Street in Newark.
The event offers residents an opportunity to securely dispose of personal papers and documents. There is a limit of five boxes per household or individual, and businesses are not eligible to participate. For privacy and security, all documents must be securely boxed or bagged. Boxes should not be taped shut, and plastic bags will not be accepted for disposal. Residents are asked to remove paper clips, binders, photographs, and other physical media like CDs or DVDs before bringing items for shredding. Ohio Mobile Shredding will handle the offsite shredding of paper materials after the event.
In addition to paper shredding, the event will also feature electronics recycling, managed by Columbus Micro Systems. Accepted electronic items include phones, computers, DVD players, gaming units, printers, cables, cameras, e-readers, monitors, servers, speakers, and battery backups. However, televisions will not be accepted at this event. Residents with TVs for disposal should contact Licking County Recycling for alternative options.
The Licking County Recycling Department encourages residents to take advantage of this service to safely manage sensitive documents and outdated electronics. For more information about recycling services in Licking County, residents can contact the department directly at (740) 670-5125 or follow them on Facebook for updates.
