CDC Investigates Fungal Meningitis Outbreak Across Multiple States

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is investigating a multistate outbreak of fungal meningitis and other infections. State and local health departments and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are collaborating with the CDC on the investigation.

The CDC suspects the outbreak is linked to contaminated preservative-free methylprednisolone acetate (MPA) steroid injections. These injections were manufactured by the New England Compounding Center (NECC).
