Huntsville funds 42-unit affordable housing project on Venona Avenue

Huntsville City Council approved $2.3 million in federal grant funds for New Stone Commons, a 42-unit affordable housing development at 3450 Venona Avenue NW.

The funding comes from the HOME Investment Partnerships Program — American Rescue Plan, which targets households earning below area median income, people experiencing homelessness, those at risk of homelessness, and survivors of domestic violence.

Mayor Tommy Battle will enter into a development agreement with the project developer. The Community Development Department will oversee construction to ensure compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
