Residents in the Del Norte Vicinity, Northern San Luis Valley, Southern San Luis Valley, and surrounding mountainous areas are advised to seek shelter indoors immediately due to a strong thunderstorm. The National Weather Service in Pueblo, CO, issued a Special Weather Statement at 6:25 PM MDT, effective until 7:00 PM MDT.

Doppler radar at 6:25 PM MDT tracked a strong thunderstorm seven miles north of Cuchara, moving northeast at 60 mph. This storm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 50 mph. The primary hazard is gusty winds that could knock down tree limbs and displace unsecured outdoor objects.
